FREE
MAGAZINE
FREE is a free bi-monthly arts and culture publication. FREE
serves as a platform for independent artists of all cultures
and ethnicities to share work that is often overlooked by the
corporate controlled commercial arts community. Additionally,
FREE provides a platform for artists to discuss, analyze and
critique cultural developments and policies that shape their
work and the world in which they live. Transcending all artistic
disciplines, FREE creates synergies where there were previously
none. FREE combines written prose, performance and visual expression
in a palatable and alluring format
that informs, entertains, educates and inspires.
Included
within every issue of FREE is a compact disc of independent
musicians. Somewhat enigmatic, the FREE CD is a highly sought
after vehicle to showcase some of the todays most engaging
and innovative performers. To

FREE
Declaration
FREE seeks to expand the conversation in the content of the
art produced and displayed throughout the African Diaspora.
In all of their various facets, the arts are neither just commodity
nor entertainment. Their value is priceless. The arts represent
a key component to the liberation of the human spirit and condition.
The arts not only shape our ideology they shape our lives. FREE
is a voice of dissent to the current status quo. FREE is a countermovement
to the commodification of art and culture. Like the Harlem Renaissance
and the Black Arts Movement, FREE will serve as a purveyor of
the arts and culture that are born of struggle and seek progress.
FREE will provide a platform to showcase the work of independent
artists that recognize the power in their work and accept that
responsibility. Simply put FREE is just that - FREE of constraint,
FREE of construct and FREE of confinement.
